Following the recent sex scandal involving a student and Medard Twinobuhungiro, a Makerere University lecturer from the College of Business and Management Sciences (COBAMS), other lecturers from the Ivory Tower are in panic over suspected sex tapes likely to leak in the near future.
While speaking to Red Pepper (a local newspaper), one of the lectures who preferred anonymity said it is true they talk about a couple of things with female students including asking for sex in exchange for marks and other academic-related favors.
“It’s true we talk to different people including students on different topics including asking for sex. We cannot rule out anything. We now fear that other girls might come up with those recordings.” The lecturer said.
Twinobuhungiro was exposed by a local television channel for restlessly begging for sex from a one Anita Twinamatsiko, a student he was lecturing. Twinamatsiko provided the TV with vulgar recordings of Twinobuhungiro restlessly asking for sex in both English and Runyankore.
Apparently, three other lecturers from Makerere have reached out to the tabloid asking whether they have more recordings yet to be published. At the same time, a number of girls from the Wandegeya-based campus have admitted that many of their friends record their phone calls while talking to lecturers, a habit used to pin the sex-hungry officials when they cross the academics line.
The number if girls with sex tapes and recordings of lecturers begging for sex is believed to exceed 1000 including current and former students of Uganda’s biggest university, Makerere.
While commenting about the Twinobuhungiro scandal, Prof Barnabas Nawangwe, the university’s Vice-Chancellor maintains that Makerere does not condone sex for marks. “Makerere University has zero tolerance to sexual harassment .” said Nawangwe.
The number of lecturers involved in sex for marks at Makerere University continues to rise as it should be recalled that last year, Dr. Swizen Kyomuhendo, a Political Science lecturer was fired for trying to extort sex from one of his students.
