Vied for by five contestants, Mundu Nancy of Faculty of Education pursing BTE II beat Ainomugisha Smartson BES II, Ssebyoto Asadhu BEST/M II, Mugarura Jessie BAF II and Liola to bear the flag for NRM in the coming KYU Guild elections 2014/15.
The voting that was meant for all the NRM party students (those who bear cards) was changed 2 days to the ‘deciding day’ whereby an electoral college was formed and only electoral college members were allowed to vote.
The college was constituted of 52 members; the executive, contestants and 2 students from each faculty and hall of residence. Voting was done on Friday 28th and Mundu emerged as the winner. Of the 52 members, only 40 voted.
Mundu got 24 votes, Liola got 5 votes, Smartson and Jessie got 4 votes each and Asadhu got 3 votes.
Shortly after being announced the winner, this is what Mundu posted on her facebook wall, ”let the name of the lord be exalted for the first hurdle of leadership is done. The next is yet underway. Your prayers please”
However, none of the other contestants is satisfied with the results!!They all say the executive was bribed. They have petitioned the chairman Mr. Komakech opposing the way the college was formed and the results.
