After years of excessive failure since the inception of the Makerere University law pre-entry exam, this year finally got to terms with the tricky exam and registered the highest percentage pass in years.
Slightly over 55% students of the one thousand nine hundred sixteen (1,916) that sat the paper scored the mandatory 50%.
Of the one thousand fifty nine (1,059) total candidates that scored 50% and above in the exam, eight hundred sixty (860) were A-level leavers that were led by Greenhill Academy’s Daniel Makuei Makur Akec who was just 19% shy of the total 100% and just managed to score an amazing 81% in the paper.
A total of one thousand six hundred thirty three (1,633) A-level leavers sat the exam.
On the other hand, eight six (86) out of the one hundred forty one (141) Diploma Holders that registered to sit the exam passed it with 50% and above.
This pack was led by Erisha Barack Kaweesi from the Law Development Centre (LDC) just a few metres from Makerere University.
In the category of degree holders, a total of one hundred twenty (120) candidates registered to sit the exam and ninety three (93) of them managed to score the passmark.
Makerere University’s Robert Shisa was the best in this category with 81%.
Simon Peter Kyalwanzi who scored 73% was the best among the Mature Age entrants who sat for the exam. In total, twenty two (22) of these sat for the exam and just two (02) failed to raise the 50% passmark.
The range between the first and the last was a whooping 64% as the worst candidate (name withheld) only managed to score a miserable 17% in the exam.
The full results are currently pinned on the university Senate notice board and unsatisfied students have the right to appeal within fourteen days since their release.
