Headed by its Chairperson Peter Makumbi, the newly elected Electoral commission of Makerere University has officially requested interested aspirants for the position of Guild president to pick nomination forms beginning 6th February 2018.
In accordance with the Guild Constitution, the chairperson of Electoral Commission is bound to call for nominations after consultations with the chairperson of the caretaker government at least 14 days before the polling day. Picking of the 2018 Guild president nomination forms will take place between Feb 6th (3:00pm) and 13th Feb (noon).
Among the requirement for one to get nominated for the position of Guild President, the aspirant will have to pay a non-refundable fee of UGSHs 200,000/= in cash.
One of the other major quality is that an aspirant is required to have no pending retake in their entire academic record for the current programme being pursued at Makerere University.
The aspirants will officially be allowed to kick off campaigns after being evaluated by the Electoral Commission. Among the competing parties at Makerere University include Democratic Party, Forum for Democratic Change, NRM, UPC among others.
