Retakes Are So Many – Kyambogo University Students Cry Out Over Faulty Portal

Kyambogo University students mostly from Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences have reached out to Campus Bee following the unbelievable number of retakes they have registered. According to the disgruntled scholars, Kyambogo University introduced a new students’ portal, which has become “hell” for them.

The students informed this writer that the portal does not display the exact marks on top of giving them retakes they did not get. It is also said that some course units disappeared completely and students were added those they didn’t do.

According to Polite Akiiki Iryne, a Kyambogo University Bachelor of Arts and Social Sciences finalist awaiting graduation, the portal is too open and can be easily hacked.

“There is a considerable number of issues with the new portal. The portal does not reflect the actual marks well if one had a 60 now he is likely to be having a retake. Retakes are too many on our portals as if that is not enough students do not have their full marks some course units disappeared completely and yet students were added course units they didn’t do.” Polite told Campus Bee.

“For instance a student who does sociology and social administration in the arts and social science course is not supposed to have economic political science or psychology but students have such course units in a mixture of one course. Above it all the portal is too open so long as one knows your registration number that’s all hence it become easy for hackers to do what they can.” Polite added.

Another Kyambogo University finalist, who preferred to remain anonymous alerted the Bee that she can no longer access her portal, adding that some of her course units and marks have vanished. This student also revealed that she was shocked to find that they are still demanding her functional fees yet she had already cleared the said fee.

“My portal at first before it was messed up with results issues it was showing that my current academic year was 3 sem 1 and it was appearing twice, that was my first problem and it was showing that they are  demanding me functional fees yet I had paid.” A Kyambogo University student pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Social Sciences revealed.

“The portal is now blocked. Before it was blocked I had accessed it and my marks were messed up I even took screenshots. They gave me wrong marks in some two papers then I was also given two papers that I do not offer and one is a retake. In research designs I had 76 but was given 73.” The student added.

Many graduands from the mentioned faculty are complaining after course units were deleted from their portals yet graduation preparations are in final phase for other faculties.
