On November 22, the Forum for Democratic Change party president Dr Kizza Besigye declared a 10 days ultimatum for Museveni to open the university or else he and his team will stage nation-wide protests.
Now, with only 4 days remaining for the ultimatum to expire, the FDC team has laid the strike strategy already. While talking on Ddembe FM’s Twezimbe program this morning, Kawempe Councillor Muhammad Segirinya revealed the plans of how the strike will be conducted. While on air, he said that the strike will include parents whom he called upon to turn up with 1000 shillings. This money will be collected and the mob led by him, Dr.Kiiza Besigye and MP Mubarak Segirinya will proceed to MUK with the collected money to distribute it to the striking lecturers inside the university.
There after, they will conduct a tour around the university together with the parents.
The question that stands to challenge them however is if Police will allow them to proceed without getting arrested or dispersed as has always been the case with all Besigye’s Segurinya
While asked about if the protest leading team has sought police permission as per the Public Order and Management Act, Segirinya boldly said that the ultimatum should act as a notice to police.
Who is Muhammad Segurinya
Segirinya is a KCCA councilor who rose to fame when he carried a TV set from kawempe Division to Parliament, protesting against Digital Migration back in 2012. He is also well known as someone who is always flanking Besigye and Lord Mayor Elias Lukwago’s during defiance campaigns.
