As we usher in a new year 2022, our informants have crafted a list of probably the most eye-catching students at Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST) depending on their achievements and personality.
Here we go;
Shamim Nabidda
Shamim is a final year Nursing student at MUST who has been recognized by many as a vibrant and inspiring leader. In addition to many leadership positions she held within MUST, Shamim served as the president for Mbarara University Nursing students’ association (2021-2020) where she was awarded for making the association more vibrant than ever before.
Due to her passion in leadership and willingness to serve, she has gone on to seek for mandate from the medical pre-interns to be a vice president of Federation for Uganda Medical Interns (2022-2023). She is not only known for being a vibrant leader but also a hard working and assertive lady who took an extra step to innovate a business of selling eggs around Taso village.
Kamoga Denis Marone alias MILKMAN
Marone is a student of Pharmaceutical sciences at MUST. He is a young entrepreneur, an events photographer under his brand known as Marone photography and CEO NexusUG gaming lounge.
Kirabo Mercy
Mercy is hardworking lady type who accomplishes her tasks on time, good time keeper, respects every one regardless of their position, God fearing and loves to perform duties in church, encourages fellow students that feel like giving up on their courses, likes discussing with friends hard course units, acknowledging important days like birthdays for students, dresses smartly transpiring the profession of teaching and keeps smiling.
Swaga Faraji
Faraji is a third year planning and community development student at the institution. He’s one of the writers at Campus Bee and became one of the most influential students this year after incorporating his digital skills into the guild election campaigns that were held this year.
Faraji later on started “Swagadat digital”, a rising initiative that mainly works online on digital management marketing, graphics designing and most of the other digital work that specializes in social media. Through Campus Bee, he was identified by other business enterprises in the region which later called him on board, ventured into real estate hence making him get a career even before he’s done with school. His goal is to help raise other fellow youths through digital work.
Ssenyonga Yasin Millers
Ssenyonga won an award for the best project 2021 in the field of computer science. His project was on criminal tracking algorithm using facial recognition. He built it using high technology of Convolutional neuron Network (CNN). A passionate data scientist with high knowledge in computer vision and Artificial intelligence.
Balitema Vicent and Katusiime Susan
The duo won Information Technology award after innovating a video game that creates public awareness about the effects of global warning. To mitigate climate change.
Erima Augustine Adrabo
The musician – politician who also doubles as a business man and chief fresher at MUST shook up the year by storm. His new ways of articulating idea and positivity message has lifted a group of students morale at MUST. He engineered several songs such as mackilne that has become a sing along for most students at campus. He definitely has better years ahead of him and the MUST community should look up to this gentleman.
Nabbagala Resty
Resty has been a student pursuing bachelor’s degree in Business Administration at MUST. She has been influential in the promotion of women rights and protecting the girl child. Through her NGO, Here For Her Foundation, Resty has reached out to many young girls giving them sanitary towels and educating them about their rights and the roles they play in the society.
There are many more out there that perhaps deserve to be on this list thus, everyone has been influential in their own apect regardless of the above noticed fellas.
