Pearl Security guards working in Kyambogo University especially those at the gates are famous for forcing students to wear and buy masks before entering campus.
On a number of occasions, they have had both verbal and physical fights over this issue. The students claim that they are rude and very authoritative every time they command the students to put on masks.
Today, the reason why they force students who don’t have masks to buy them from a mask seller who is ever present at the gate standing right next to them was revealed.
It appears that these people whom students always thought were concerned about their health took advantage of the rumor that COVID 19 was back to do business.
They own the mask business at the Banda gate. That is why students would never enter the campus unless they bought the masks by force.
Students even resorted to beating them up. Today afternoon, the mask seller wearing the green vest like the security guards were wearing was seen by a number of students gesturing one of the female guards at the gate to chase a one student who didn’t have her mask on to go back and buy a mask.
The mask seller winked at the guard, pointed at the only student who wasn’t wearing a mask and then raised the masks up in the air.
The next thing that happened was that the student was told to go back and get a mask. There have been rumors that the guards own the mask business at the gates and that is why they seem concerned more about the student’s health than their own because they never wear masks all the time.
Students always complained about why the guards care more about their lives than the students themselves. Could it really be true that they own the mask businesses at the gates?
