Former Uganda National Students Association (UNSA) general secretary Roy Rugumayo has been appointed deputy prime minister at Victoria University.
Rugumayo who only recently joined Victoria University as a masters student is now the new deputy prime minister in Jorine Carter’s government.
Rugumayo was vetted by the students parliament, and for a man politically experienced as he is, it was obvious that he had to be found fit for the job.
Rugumayo shared the joy of his appointment in a statement shared on his social media pages.
In the statement, Rugumayo thanks the appointing authority and the students parliament for the opportunity given to him to serve the students at Victoria University.
“My appreciation for this opportunity go to the guild president, her entire cabinet, the Rt. Hon. Speaker and the whole students parliament,” the statement reads in part.
Rugumayo graduated from Makerere University where he was politically rooted before joining Victoria University to further his studies.
Rugumayo has previously served as the vice president East African Students Union (EASU) and general secretary UNSA.
