The principle – Gulu College of Health Sciences, Mrs. Grace Aninge has succumbed to Coronavirus, the institution announced.
The deceased passed on at Kampala Hospital after she battling COVID-19 for a number of days.
Colleagues, friends and family have expressed heavy hearts during such a difficult and trying moment.
“Quite often, I turned to Grace for management and leadership guidance on running Gulu Institute of Science and Technology. To us Grace Aninge was a mentor, her death shall have lasting negative impact on us all,” one of the former colleagues penned.
Another colleague highlighted some of the late Aninge’s contributions towards the medical education sector in the country.
“In northern Uganda, she transformed a single program Gulu School of Clinical Officers into 11 programs Gulu College of Health Sciences; that isn’t a simple task, It requires enormous effort, resources – human, infrastructural and financial” the colleague wrote.
Campus Bee has also established that the deceased pursued a diploma in public Dentistry at Mulago Dental School, before she served as principle tutor of the same program. Luck met her way and she ascended to head Gulu College of health sciences as Principal.
Before her demise, the late Aninge was also serving as chairperson of the Uganda Allied Health Examinations Board (UAHEB) Examination Committee.
