The Uganda medical fraternity is in grief after getting news of the death of their two colleagues yesterday evening who were about to finish their one year experience as intern doctors.
The deceased were identified as Ahmed a Somali national and Emma Kidambire who drowned in Lake Nabugabo where they had gone for a boat cruise.
Dr. Ahmed and Dr. Emma were graduates of Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU) and Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST) respectively.
The communication about the terrible incident was revealed by the Federation for Uganda Medical Interns president Dr. Nabwire Mary Lilian.
“We are saddened by the unfortunate news of our colleagues (two intern doctors) that have just drowned in Nabugabo Lake while they had gone to the beach,’’ she revealed.
By press time, the marine police had not yet communicated about the incident but the search for their bodies is ongoing.
