Aidah Titi, is a third-year student at Kyambogo university pursuing a Bachelor of arts in Economics.
Aidah who missed her graduation last year after failing to sit for one of her papers in the final exams was diagnosed with a brain tumor in December 2016 after reports showed that she had increasing weakness in her right upper limb.
According to Dr Joel Kiryabwire, a neuro-surgeon at Mulago Hospital, Aidah has a brain tumor affecting her nerves and says that this tumor can’t be worked upon in Uganda.
“Much as she needs an operation it cannot be done in Uganda, I’m referring her to India for further expert management and will need over shs65m will be needed,” he said.
“I’m not sure I will get any better because the pain keeps increasing and additionally I don’t have the 65million shillings,” said told this reporter.
Jonas Opira, Aidah’s husband told New Vision that this predicament all started in 2012 when she was diagnosed with arthritis (painful inflammation and stiffness of the joints), which they failed to get a solution after visiting various hospitals until December when she was diagnosed with a brain tumor.
“She now relies on painkillers as there is no drug to better her condition and it’s on such grounds that I request anyone with any form of help to kindly come in and save a life,” Opira concluded.
