The Ministry of Education and Sports has announced the availability of Indian Government scholarships for suitably qualified Ugandan scholars to pursue studies in Indian universities for the 2024/2025 academic year.
The scholarships cover a range of fields at the PhD, Master, and Undergraduate levels.
Fields of Study and Slots Available:
- PhD Level:
- PhD in Computer Science (2 slots)
- PhD in Structural Engineering (3 slots)
- PhD in Education (3 slots)
- Master Level:
- MSc Industrial Engineering (3 slots)
- MSc in Statistics (3 slots)
- MSc (Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Mathematics) (9 slots)
- Undergraduate Level:
- Pharmacy (4 slots)
- BSc Civil Engineering (3 slots)
- BSc Quantity Surveying (3 slots)
Eligibility Criteria:
- PhD applicants must have a Master’s degree in the relevant field with a minimum CGPA of 3.60.
- Master’s applicants should hold a first degree in the relevant field with a minimum CGPA of 3.00.
- Applicants for Engineering Sciences should have studied Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics at A’ Level.
- Undergraduate Medical Sciences applicants should have studied Physics, Chemistry, and Biology at A’ Level with at least 2 Cs.
- All applicants with foreign qualifications must have their academic documents equated by UNEB and the National Council for Higher Education.
- Master’s applicants need at least two years of work experience in the relevant field.
- Age limits: below 45 years for PhD applicants, below 30 years for Undergraduate and Master’s applicants.
Application Procedure:
- Review the application guidelines at policy guidelines.
- Apply directly to Indian universities via A2A scholarships.
- Upload necessary documents before the online submission.
- Submit a printed copy of the application to the Central Scholarship Committee at the Ministry of Education and Sports, along with the downloaded and filled application form.
The deadline for applications is Friday, May 31st, 2024 and the shortlist will be displayed on the Ministry of Education and Sports website and at the Embassy House and Legacy Towers notice boards on Friday, June 12th, 2024.
