Don Wanyama, the Senior Presidential Press Secretary was among the last batch of this year’s Makerere University graduands that graduated at the 70th graduation ceremony”. Wanyama graduated with a Degree of Master of Arts in Journalism & Communication.
Wanyama came through dripping for his graduation today morning and his presence was officially recognized by the MC of the day.
Today’s ceremony was comprised of graduands from the College of Engineering, Design, Art and Technology (CEDAT), College of Humanities and Social Sciences (CHUSS), and the School of Law.
While speaking to graduands, the Vice Chancellor Prof Barnabas Nawangwe highlighted on the achievements at Makerere in general with specific reference to the research and innovations in the College of Engineering, Design, Art and Technology (CEDAT), College of Humanities and Social Sciences (CHUSS), and the School of Law.
“Distinguished guests, I am pleased to inform you that through the Department of Religion and Peace Studies, Makerere University competed and won the bid to host the first International Rotary Peace Centre in Africa.” Nawangwe said.
The 70th graduation ceremony that kicked off on Tuesday January 14th saw a total of 13,510 students conferred upon degrees and awarded diplomas of Makerere University in various disciplines. Of these, 62 received PhDs, 1,173 Masters Degrees and 119 Postgraduate Diplomas, while 12,156 got undergraduate diplomas and Bachelors Degrees.
