News coming in from the Luwero based Ndejje University indicates that a section of graduates-to-be are likely to miss the university’s graduation ceremony scheduled on 17th December 2021.
According to sources at the university, some students while doing their final examinations failed to submit their papers as it was directed by the examination guidelines set to regulate online examinations.
Following the covid-19 induced lockdown in June, final year students at Ndejje University like other institutions were subjected to online examinations in September under the Open Distance and Electronic Learning System (ODeL).
Before the onset of examination’s period, students were oriented to submit their answers in PDF format to the university system in 48 hours. It is said that in some instances, the system would experience network challenges where the system could not give correct feedback on whether the paper has been submitted or saved as a draft until hours later.
According to Charles Ntende one of the victims, the system was not functioning properly as the deadline was approaching and several attempts were made but all didn’t yield any good results.
Another student identified as Stella explained that she visited the offices several times in a bid to see that her work is submitted, in vain.
