In a requiem mass held this morning at St Augustine Church in Makerere University, various mourners including her friends, course mates from MUBS, and family members converged to pray for Igoe before her final send off. In his emotional speech, Igoe’s father, Prof Oonyu Joseph described his deceased daughter as an ever smiling angel who made so many friends wherever she would go.

“Sheila was always smiling, her bright smile was her trade mark and it earned her many friends. Whenever she wanted money or food, she would send me a picture of her empty fridge,” Igoe’s dad eulogised.

Prof Oonyu added that his daughter’s phone was always on and he was very shocked when he failed to reach her several times last week. Prof Oonyu was also shocked to learn that Igoe left without telling her room mates where she was going, something that she had never done before.
The MUBS Dean of students, Ms Evas Nakojo and other friends who got an opportunity to speak about Igoe described her as a sweet and friendly soul who never stopped smiling. Her friends and family members were given an opportunity to lay wreaths before her body was taken outside for public viewing.

Igoe is a former student of St Mary’s College Kitende from where she came to join MUBS. Igoe Sheila Immaculate was born on 16th December 1996.
Igoe’s body will today be moved to her ancestral home in Palisa where her burial will take place tomorrow Thursday 22nd at 1PM.
