We all treasure our high school memories — undoubtedly. By far, the sweetest of them aren’t the wags (strokes of the cane) that we received for the slightest mistake, the stressing morning and night preps, complex as hell tests, and our hot classmates who rejected us because they only dated campusers. The most nostalgic of all is the metal box (suit case). This aluminium chest was the keeper of all treasures, from heartly chits (love letters) sent by your crush, to roasted peanuts, juice, daddies (bundaazi), ggweke (hard corns), bread and kipeti (appetizer). Coupled with a big-as-hell padlock, no one could ever try to break into your case and be successful.
Even though the said box is the first thing expected to be ditched when one leaves high school, a fresher recently left Hostel residents in awe after he reported to Kikoni’s Nalikka Hostel with a metal box.
In a photo taken from Dream World Hostel, directly opposite Nalikka, the boy is seen being given a hand in taking his Pandora’s Box to his room. Amazing to finally be at campus, isn’t it?
The only advice we give this fresher is, campus girls are very different from high school girls. They are not moved by the size of your case and its contents, but the bulge in your pants; made by wallet and otherwise. Also, no one will break into a simple leather suitcase if you get one — you will have your own copy of the keys to your room; hostels are not like dormitories.
On a brighter note, good luck as you pursue that First Class Degree.
