Shocking Facts About the Death Of MAK Medical Student Emerge

The Police have come out to clarify on the conflicting media reports alleged murder of Imalingat Ibrahim, a third year Mulago Paramedical School student, that took place on Saturday 10 05.2015.

Police spokesperson Fred Enanga says they are still interviewing witnesses, but dismissed claims that the key suspects were a group of area crime preventers.

“The preliminary findings indicate that the victim; in company of a friend while returning to their hostel were confronted by two men in civilian attire (one holding a stick) at the Mulago playground,” he said.

Enanga adds that Imalingat and a colleague were returning from a party for the West Nile Students Association, which they joined after having dinner at Organic Bar, Mawanda road at between 1130 p.m and midnight.

On approaching mulago playfield at past midnight, they were confronted by the assailants, and they fled in different directions, the friend towards Gadaffi hostel, while the victim ran towards the TASO block with the attackers behind him.

Moments thereafter, the victim was found unconscious at the school’s main entrance and was rushed for treatment at Mulago where he was pronounced dead.

“The Forensic medical report retrieved, revealed the cause of death as blunt force trauma which occurs when the body or head is introduced with great force to a blunt instrument, sometimes by an attacker or accident. The victim dislocated the cervical vertebrae immediately below the skull, and suffered abrasions on the left zygoma (cheekbone), left knee anterior, knuckles of the left and right hands (which injuries to the hands normally occur when an individual is attacked, involved in a fight and or protecting their face or upper body).”

Police says they are still patching together evidence to link or delink the suspects from the alleged murder who are still held at Wandegeya Police.

“It is therefore, important to note that at this early stage of investigation, the police are keeping an open mind regarding the motivation of the suspects.”

“We would like to appeal to anyone with information about the suspected murder to call the police or release it in confidence on numbers 0712-667705, 0714-667776/8, and or the Professional Standards Unit which is supporting the investigations on 0718-357469, 0718-357470.”
