St Mary’s College Kisubi (SMACK) is under fire for leaking Solomon Kampala’s suspension letter and additional details. Kampala, who is a son to National Unity Platform President, Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine was on 1st February 2022 suspended from the school after finding him with marijuana substance wrapped in papers like cigarettes.
Social media users have taken to various online platforms to wonder why SMACK would leak Kampala’s suspension. Some Netizens argue that Kampala is a teenager, who is trying out new things and doesn’t call for shaming him.
“As a father of a teenage boy going through a critical stage.. trying to find himself.. experimenting with all sorts of ideas and things…I am baffled that SMACK would disclose/confirm such sensitive information about that young man.” Tweeted Alan Kasujja, a journalist working with BBC.
“This evoked the memories of teenage school life. I and colleagues; Ngabo, Pablo & Philo were suspended over the same while at Tororo College. There was no Twitter then and we were (still are) children of nobodies. SMACK should never have leaked this. Can’t condemn Solomon!” A one Gyagenda Semakula tweeted.
Some internet fanatics are wondering why the “ strict” SMACK didn’t expel Kampala if the allegations are indeed true. They have further tried to attach the incident to his father’s politics, explaining that the ruling government is trying to use SMACK to fight its battles.
Both Bobi Wine and his wife Barbie Kaygulanyi have not commented on the incident publically as several Ugandans continue to share their thoughts on the matter.
