Soroti University has started a search for a new vice chancellor, leaving Professor Robert Ikoja the former Vice Chancellor jobless.
In a letter from the university’s secretary, the institution is currently hunting for new personnel to occupy the office of vice chancellor and deputy vice chancellor (finance and administration).
Applications for either positions are open with a few restrictions set for both positions.
For instance, applicants for the position of vice chancellor must not be less than 45 years of age and must be Ugandan citizens.
Applicants are required to send their resume on the official university email not later than August 12th, 2022.
The vice chancellor and his/her deputy will be given a five year contract in accordance with the University and other Tertiary Institutions act.
After expiry of the vice chancellor’s contract, he may apply for reconsideration for a second term as stipulated in the act.
The new vice chancellor will replace Professor Robert Ikoja who has served as the university’s vice chancellor from the time it gained a public university status to present.
