From picking up nomination forms to campaigning in the rain and finally winning the Guild Presidential contest, one can only say that this was never a smooth journey for Kadaga Timothy who now has the bragging rights as the person of the highest students’ office in Uganda Christian University.
Yesterday, Friday 1st November, 2019 was the date marked for U.C.U’s Guild Elections in which Candidates Timothy Kadaga and Elisa Nyakahuma would take on each other on a vote count emanating from a secret ballot electoral process. Voting started as early as 9 am with a low voter turn up at most of the polling stations but this would later change with time as more and more students came through to cast votes for their Presidential candidates and Members of Parliament.
Voting closed at 5 pm which would mark the start of a heated up tallying process whose results turned out to be entirely in favour of candidate Timothy Kadaga who scooped 1429 votes and 780 votes for Elisa Nyakahuma as announced by the Electoral Commission.
The news of Kadaga’s win set UCU on fire as so many students flocked to his hostel, Tupendane hoping to get a glimpse at the President Elect while some even hopped for an open bar courtesy of Timothy Kadaga at Mukono’s renowned hangout spot Casablanca. However, to their disappointment, this did not come to pass.
Our reporter caught up with Mr. Timothy Kadaga and he expressed his sincere gratitude to all those that voted him as Guild President and hoped that even the 780 that did not vote for him would actually cooperate with him to better the institution.
Timothy Kadaga will be taking on office from Amanya Bruce who is the incumbent President of UCU’s Guild Government. From the team at Campus Bee, we wish to congratulate him upon this victory.
