On 21st March 2020, Uganda confirmed her first case of coronavirus (COVID-19). This attracted the President of Uganda H.E Y. K Museveni to call for a nation address for the second time in a period of 4 days. The address occurred yesterday at the state house in Nakasero.
New strategies such as stopping all travelers from outside countries from entering Uganda and others were put in place as a way of curbing down the high rate at which the virus spreads.
It should be recalled that on Wednesday last week, the President stopped all public gatherings and he ordered for the closure of all academic institutions which meant that all students were to be sent back to their homes.
While addressing the nation yesterday, President Museveni recommended that all students from primary to university stay at their parent’s/guardians homes instead of loitering around in the trading centers, markets and other places of gathering.
“The reason as to why schools and universities were closed was to ensure your safety since they were among the gathering places. But not for you to loiter in the markets, attend weddings and other parties, visiting friends but to stay home with your parents until the situation has calmed down,’’ President Museveni said.
In addition, the Ministry of health put up telephone numbers for anyone to call in case of any emergence in relation to COVID-19, and these are;

Government line 2 0800203033
