Former Makerere University Social Researcher, Dr Stella Nyanzi has been sentenced to 18 months in jail after being found guilty of cyber harassing President Museveni by Buganda Road Court Magistrate Gladys Kamasanyu.
Nyanzi, who has already served 9 months in Luzira will only serve another 9 months to complete the sentence. She treated court to drama when she undressed in her video conference as the sentence was being passed.
Campus Bee has learned that the academic destroyed the video link equipment which was being used to avail her the proceedings, poured water on prison warders and undressed as a form of protest to the system but that was not enough to get her a lighter sentence.
Stella Nyanzi was sacked by Makerere University while in jail and has battled charges of cyber harassment and offensive communication for 9 months now.
