As earlier communicated by the Kyambogo Vice-Chancellor Prof Eli Katunguka, Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) will start collecting students’ fees for all public universities beginning with the 2019/2020 academic year.
All public universities will be required to close their bank accounts because students’ fees will directly go to the URA bank account without filling bank slips.
- The payment procedure is as follows;
- Go to your student portal, enroll and the system will make a bill for you to know how much you are meant to pay.
- Generate a reference number of the amount you are meant to pay.
- Present your reference number to any bank teller in any commercial bank in Uganda.
- The teller will then print out a payslip which shows that you have paid and it will be given to you.
- Staple the payslip given to you with your reference number slip and keep the two as evidence for the payment made.
- You will then receive a message on your phone or email that your payment has been received by URA.
All Banks in the country that accept URA payments can be used not only those inside Kyambogo premises. However, the National Council fee is paid differently using a bank slip.
According to the university administration, policies like the late payment fee of UGX 50,000 after 6 weeks still stands. Exciting news for sponsored students is that they can now simply forward their reference numbers to their sponsors who will then pay on their behalf from any part of the country.
