MAK strike Day 2 has turned out to be violent. It has left remarkable damages all over campus unlike yesterday. Today students blocked most campus roads leaving them littered with debris.
The Samsung Galaxy street banners didn’t survive though. The strikers made sure they left the banners on university road in pieces. The torn pieces made up the debris that was burning and blocking campus roads.
The beautiful Forestry building lost some glasses on its faculty entrance door. This happened as some students had been locked inside in a lecture and the striking students were fighting hard to make the custodian open up the door. When they failed to succeed, they broke the glass and set a blazing furnace with car tires at the Faculty entrance. They intended to use the smoke to pull out the students from the building only to be whisked away by anti riot police amidst a tight hustle between them and some forestry students who were outside.
Next in line were the two cars whose wind screens were vandalized in The main library parking lot. A Mercedes Benz UAG 682T had its behind windscreen totally broken and a Toyota Corolla UAD 851 P received a round crack on its front wind screen. Hoping the contents of the Benz are safe as it was broken wide open.
The Information Technology Neon lit banner wasn’t left standing either. It was demolished leaving a baseless hanging part of it.The construction barricades of the building next to social sciences were also tilted a little during the strike though the construction staff managed to reinstate them back to their positions.
The strike has left the university in a poor state with deserted streets as campus activities are at halt.
