A national students’ leader has been charged before the Anti-corruption court with allegedly stealing 25 million shillings for the National Students’ Association secretariat.
Muhammad Ramadhan Sserwada, the Executive Secretary of the association has faced seven counts including embezzlement, abuse of office, false accounting, causing financial loss, forgery and presentation of a false document, which prosecution says he committed between January and November last year.
Prosecution explained that Sserwada while charged with the custody and management of funds of the Students’ Association, fabricated receipts for accountability purportedly issued by Gaba Seminary and Mulongo catering services worth 25 million shillings and presented them to IGG offices.
He denied the offences before Grade one magistrate, Susanne Okeny and was granted a 3 million cash bail with an order to return to court on the 13th of November.
