So as is the culture, every year around this time, Uganda Christian University Law Faculty holds a Pre Entry examination where they assess the ability of the course applicants at their main campus in Mukono.
The Law Faculty this time round set some of the hardest questions in the history of the pre-entry examination to the extent that some of the students said that the MUK pre-entry was “easier” than the one at UCU.
Some of the questions like, “The Political Federation of East African Community is not achievable, discuss”, “URA’s proposed measures at the Banking and Communications Industry are good for the Ugandan economy, Give your perspective” led to the demise of some applicants’ hopes on pursuing Bachelor of Laws course.
Majority were disappointed with their performance as regards the essay but then expressed relief with the oral interviews. They had this to say:
“Umm … the first paper was quite stressing but with the orals I am confident I will make it,” Agaba Clinton, a former Trinity Senior School Entebbe Student said.
“The exercise was indulging and btw the essay question was a bully, I honestly enjoyed the oral interview,” Trevor Nasa, St Mary’s Kitende student told Campus Bee.
The Law Faculty through this process seeks to assess the study, attention span and writing skills of the applicants as well as an oral interview to evaluate their expression, speech, demeanour and body language.
This year being no different, the exercise kicked off on 2.05.2018 with the first shift of the hundreds of the applicants braving the scorching Mukono sun and turning up for the 3 day exercise. The process will see close to 400 students going through to pursue their dream course with the institution later on this year. Last year, only 392 students made it through to the course at the Main Campus.
Last month saw Makerere University wrap up its law pre entry examination with over 1000 qualifying for the course. Those that make it through will be posted to Main Campus and others to Kampala campus. The fact that these pre-entry examinations were hard means that UCU might call for more applicants as was the case last year. All the best to them who finished the exercise.
