Over the years, charitable works have been neglected by many, including government; leaving the would-be harmonious role to just a few Non Governmental Organizations. This has triggered commendable actions from university students: to give in the little they have, on drawing some smiles on faces filled with apathy.
The young benevolent students, under the Draw A Smile Organisation, have planned a charity event dubbed Nkumba Charity Drive, slated for Sunday July 9th 2017. According to Sasha Ferguson, the headliner of the events, Draw A Smile Uganda often organises such drives, usually on a monthly basis in different areas and regions of the country; as the team might find fit – the most previous being the one held in Kisenyi on March 26th, 2017.
Ferguson says; “The charity drive boosts of over 50 members from different walks of life with the majority being students from various universities and institutions of higher learning. As Draw A Smile, we not only focus on performing or carrying out drives but also leaving a mark or trail in any of the communities we have so far visited.
This is visible as we have been able to take back two kids home from the streets and currently funding school dues of 4 kids who requested to be given a chance to go back to school. We had also embarked on building a home for the kids on the streets where we hoped that they could be rehabilitated and taken care of before our former partners, Branches Of Life International (BOLI) pulled out of this partnership.”
She thus calls upon the readers to donate for this Nobel cause; “It is on this note, that Draw A Smile -Uganda seeks your co-operation towards making the July 9th, drive successful.”
