Controversial and motor-mouth former State House scribe Tamale Mirundi attended Makerere University’s School of Psychology finalists’ dinner with his son Joseph Tamale Mirundi Jr as his dinner date last Friday at Fairway Hotel in Kampala. The NRM and Museveni preacher who is also a TV show regular on NBS’ One On One With Tamale Mirundi was only accompanying his son to the dinner but ended up being treated as the dinner’s guest of honour.
His son was in the news in his first year when he became Speaker for Democratic Party’s youthful wing, the Uganda Young Democrats (UYD) a few weeks after his father had been unceremoniously sacked from State House. While explaining as to why he had refused to be in his father’s party, he said the NRM had treated is daddy badly yet he was loyal to it and the president and as such, he decided to find a party that would appreciate him.
As fate would have it, Tamale arrived to a ceremony that did not have a guest of honour and being the highest ranking citizen at the venue at that time, he was consequently made the chief guest. Clad in his yellow beret, Tamale advised the finalists to follow their talents if they hope to make it in life. He called upon them to use education as a stepping stone to develop their talents instead of it being a barrier.
His son, folks say that while his father was at the high table inspiring his colleagues, he was backstage involved in compulsory tasting of the dishes that were to be served. Known among his classmates as a very stubborn character, he was overheard telling his colleagues that he brought his father not because he had run out of options but because he wanted to show girls that his father always comes first.
