After quelling and halting the strike at Kyambogo University campus, UPDF and police officers have advanced to Banda, the main trading centre of the University and caused tension and fear among students in their hostels.
Our reporter has noticed that most of the shops, stores and restaurants have been forcefully closed by the UPDF and an attempt to pursue students still wrecking havock is being made. Tear gas canisters are still being thrown allover Banda and Kireka with these soldiers staging road blocks at most points on the main road.
Most of the students who left Campus and headed for their hostels of residence are wishing they had remianed at Campus. A case in point is AKA hostel where canisters are being thrown directly in the compound hence suffocating students.
Some students were even noticed hiding under their beds and in cupboards with the fear that the UPDF soldiers may knock on their doors and smoke them out. Apparently, those who are hiding in bathrooms and latrines of hostels are being captured and loaded onto vehicles.
The Faculty President-Elect for School of Management and Entrepreneurship known by the names Seth Nyesiga has also been arrested.
