The search for the Miss Tourism Ambassador finally came to an end at the Kampala Serena Victoria Hall in a colorful event.
Teso Region now smiles proudly as their very own Pauline Akurut, 19, was crowned Miss Tourism Ambassador. Miss Tourism Ankole Sheila Kirabo was crowned 2nd runner-up and Miss Karamoja Nyangan Karen was crowned 1st runner-up.
The event that kick-started at 9pm with MC’s of the night NTV & Capital Fm’s Flavia Tumusiime and KFM’s Roger Mugisha was a well handled show however the issue of time was handled poorly. The show that was meant to come an end at mid-night stretched till 2am because of lengthy speeches from the stakeholders and politicians.
The ladies showcased the fine attires and explained to the audience the motive behind their outfits. The highlight of the showcase was Contestant No 2 who showed up only smeared with simsim on her boobs and covered her lower waist with locally made baskets.
Performance from Lillian who had just had an awesome concert last Friday was loved as the crowd sang along. Hon. Maria Mutagamba the Minister of Tourism while giving her speech called for a moment of silence to remember the models and journaliat that perished in the accident during the search.
At about 2:30am talking to an already bored crowd, the Miss Tourism; Ambassador Pauline Akurut from Teso Region was announced. Various gifts were given out from many sponsors that included hampers and contracts to be brand ambassadors for companies.
Miss tourism was handed a dummy cheque of shs8m, a flat screen and fridge from Hisense, Radiant goodies, Huwei Mate7 and many more.
