Police officers at Makerere University on Friday afternoon arrested a man identified as Dembe Dumba for burglary and theft. Dumba was found hiding in the ceiling of the School of Forestry Facility after stealing laptops and others gadgets.
According to a statement released by Kampala Metropolitan Police Deputy Spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire, Dumba was caught red handed with seven laptops and several other gadgets.
The arrest happened following a search conducted after complaints of missing laptops and other gadgets were forwarded to security officials.
“He was found in possession of seven laptops and several other hard drives he had taken from the offices,” Owoyesigire said.
Owoyesigire further revealed that Dumba is currently detained at Makerere Police Station on allegations of theft and investigations are underway.
