Students residing in halls of residence within Makerere University are living in fear even when in holidays after it emerged that thieves are breaking into their different halls of residence.
Information we’ve obtained has it that MAK female halls of residence were broken into by thieves and looted property of the students who are away for internship.
According to a statement issued by the education Minister in the Kato Paul government yesterday, Wanyera Simon, halls like Mary Stuart have been broken into and some students have already lost their property.
Below is the statement he issued.
*THEFT IN MARY STUART HALL*
Gallant intellectuals. I am not passing the first bit of this communiqué on as the Academics Minister, but as a very concerned Makererean. My heart is bleeding vehemently for the shameless and cowardly acts by a few individuals; who rob Makerereans in the various halls of residence.
Since most halls are closed, it has become a hobby for these goons to break into Mary Stuart Hall, taking all the belongings of these young ladies.
This therefore stands to warn with utmost rage, all those that have made it a livelihood to rob innocent girls in Mary Stuart Hall – especially now that it is recess time. Make sure we don’t land on you because brother if we do… I repeat if we get you, you will know why storms are named after people. Those that know the wrath of an angry Wanyera should worn these kleptomaniacs.
Besides, I’d like to inform the good citizens of the Ivory Tower, that we’ve managed to push for crediting of all internship monies to students’ accounts.
Namaste.
