Un-matched village excitement and maalo exhibited were the order of the day in a colorful ceremony presided over by the University Chancellor Prof. Mondo Kagonyera as over 10,000 students graduated with Phds, Degrees and Masters.
Students from the Colleges of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences (CAES); College of Veterinary Medicine, Animal Resources and Bio-security (CoVAB), College of Engineering, Design, Art and Technology (CEDAT), Art and Design (MTSIFA), College of Health Science (CHS), College of Natural Sciences (CoNAS) and College of Humanities & Social Sciences (CHUSS) graduated during the Institution’s first session of its 65th graduation.
At the same ceremony, the Vice Chancellor Prof. Dumba Sentamu recognised the top five publishers at the institution, all of whom were from CHUSS. He singled out Makerere’s number one publisher with a total of over 195 publications as Prof David Sserwadda.
The best student was a female student of I.T who graduated with a gobsmacking 4.88 CGPA out of the possible 5.00 which left some of her colleagues drowning in a plethora of wishful dreams as they tried to come to terms with their academically battered and comparatively miserable CGPAs, not to mention the massive blow that was dealt to the males’ egos.
Miss Uganda Leah Kalanguka and renowned songstar Maro were among the day’s graduating celebrities. It is only hoped that they’ll use their newly acquired, now certified knowledge to give Uganda’s stained entertainment industry the much-needed face-lift.
