Shock and grief have gripped Busitema University after the sudden death of a second-year student, identified as Ms. Nansamba Benitor, was confirmed on Thursday.
The 21-year-old was pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Education (Science), majoring in Mathematics and Economics. University officials described her passing as an “immense loss,” with investigations still underway to determine the exact cause of death.
A death announcement issued by the university on September 4, 2025, confirmed the tragedy, noting that her death remains unexplained. Burial arrangements are expected to be communicated once finalized.
The university community has been left reeling. In a statement, Busitema extended “heartfelt condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues”, adding that her passing represents a blow not only to her loved ones but also to the academic community where she was regarded as a bright and dedicated student.
