Tubayo , an online travel marketplace for users to easily find fun trips and unique accommodation spaces in Africa has partnered with Buganda Heritage and Tourism Board in a bid to ease cultural tourism experiences. The partnership launch went down on Saturday, August 21 at the Kings Palace in Mengo.

The launch was officiated by Owek David Kyewalabye Male the Buganda Kingdom Minister for Culture, Tourism, Palaces and Security.

According to Brian Namanya, CEO Tubayo, the partnership will see both local and international tourists book their cultural tours by just hitting one button via the Tubayo App. Buganda has already been added on the app as one of the top tourism destinations which is set to make it easier and fun for travel fanatics to book their tourism experiences around Buganda and discover the cultural history of the mentioned Kingdom.

“This is an opportunity for us to showcase experiences that are unique to our country and our culture. With the Tubayo app, you will be able to come and personally experience one of the few standing great Monarchies in Africa with about 700 years of existence.” Namanya said.

After the launch, journalists took a guided tour around the King’s Palace in Mengo. The amazing Buganda tour guides equipped the media with the history of Buganda while physically witnessing Buganda cultural activities like; weaving,  backcloth smithing, cooking local foods, games, among others.

Namanya added that the move will solve many issues among which is; the delay in booking. He explained that people would physically move to the Buganda Heritage and Tourism Board offices to secure booking which was time consuming and expensive.

While speaking at the launch, Owek David Kyewalabye Male revealed that Tubayo is the future of tourism before lauding the app’s young CEO for his creative idea. Kyewalabye further disclosed that this is an opportunity for Ugandan young people to tour Buganda and learn more about their country history.

Following the outbreak of COVID-19, booking via the Tubayo app will reduce on the number of people storming the offices and will in-turn work as a measure of curb the spread of the virus.
