In a beautiful ceremony that took place on the afternoon of 22nd March 2022 in the Central Teaching Facility ( CTF) Auditorium room 105, the 17th Guild house handed over their tools of power to the 18th Guild house.
The latter took their oath of allegiance to carry on their duties as expected of them. The function was presided over by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Eli Katunguka.
Tumwine Serge, the Guild President elect who won with 5915 votes swore in as the 18th Guild President in the presence of the University administrators that is to say the Vice Chancellor and the Dean of students, and in the presence of fellow guild officials and other invited guests.
Akayo Dorcus was sworn in as the Vice Guild President and Mugisha Trust, the former FDC guild Presidential Flag bearer as the Prime Minister.
H.E Serge Tumwine’s speech entailed issues of WiFi connection all around campus, quality assurance and the need for supplementary exams to improve the student’s performance and welfare.
He promised to address the issue of poor sanitation in halls of residence. He has pledged to put a central marking facility that will address the issue of missing marks.
Serge suggests that the Students Center should be reserved for students with businesses to show case their commodities.
H.E Serge Tumwine continued to express his gratitude to the students for enabling him win so enormously, pledging a student based leadership that will be focused on addressing the issues of the students.
