MBALE: Premiership, La Liga, Bundesliga among other soccer and television entertainment fans will have to look to the option of ‘kibandas'(video halls) this weekend after thieves made off with two 42 Inch Samsung and LG flat screens from the Mbale based, Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU) this morning.
Students who are fond of checking the reap of their receipts (kapapula) early morning only found decorders and broken cages at Nabeel Hall which also doubles as a restaurant. The screens belong to the University though currently under the management of the restaurant caretaker. The male warden, Mr. Mikdad Iga, who was the first administrative staff to notice the mess reported to IUIU POLICE POST ‘SD REF: 08/28/02/15.’ The OC CID of the police post says investigations are still ongoing to establish the culprits. The last people inside the hall were students and organisers of the Inter Cultural Indoor competitions currently going on.The Chairman says they left the place at midnight,. They called called caretaker in vain.
They say they turned off the lights and screens too, leaving the door shut since they couldn’t lock. They got back this morning to continue with the games only to be taken to police to record statements about the incident. Consequently, the students have currently suspended their activities. The students believe someone within the university stole the screens since the university gate is locked by 11.30Pm. No one enters and exits the university beyond that time.
