Unconfirmed social media reports have surfaced alleging the death of two students at Makerere University’s Faculty of Economics and Management (FEMA) who were found dead at Sundowners. The students, Mukisa Sam and Kaboggoza Emmanuel were reportedly found dead inside a toilet at the popular city hangout spot usually frequented by university students.
The reports claim that Police has closed down the place as investigations go on. However one of the proprietors of Sundowners whom we spoke to, a one Ivan, has refuted the allegations, asserting that no such deaths nor closure of the place took place. “Sundowners is under the guard of Police 24/7. By the time we closed business at 6am today morning after doing security checks, no such incident concerning the death of those students had occurred. We are not closed. We’ll be open today starting 4pm” said Ivan.
When contacted, Makerere University’s Public Relations Officer Ms. Namisango Ritah expressed shock at the alleged incident but was quick to add that her office has not received any such reports as yet. She voiced her sympathy if the report is indeed true but added that her office will do all it can to establish the veracity of the unfortunate allegations. A few students at FEMA whom this website talked to did not seem to recall knowing any of the alleged dead students. Similarly, it is not clear what course the two were offering.
