120 Under 40, the new generation of family planning leaders recognizes and highlights the achievements of the next generation of family planning leaders worldwide. The campaign shines a light on the positive disruptions made by young leaders in family planning, enabling others to model their behavior and build on their success.
The project was launched on 26 September 2015, World Contraception Day. Of the 120 applicants only 40 will be chosen through online voting and each of the 40 will receive a reward of $1000 from the Gates Institute to enable them continue their work in family planning.
Among the nominees is Ntensibe Edgar, a second year student of Community Psychology at Makerere university and Kabuye Bashir also a student of the same university.
“I believe it’s about the work I’ve done in regards to contraception and family planning, especially with young people,” Edgar commented when asked about how he got nominated.
“I am just very happy to the extent that I can’t believe it,” added Bashir. To vote for any of the Ugandans that made it through nomination, please click here and follow link.
