Victor Ntamugabumwe, a Makerere University student final year in law school who hails from Kabale district is one name you need to cram today for posterity.
After realizing the successful story of the TwoCents platform in Nigeria, South Africa and Kenya, the St. Henrys Kitovu old student realized that Ugandan university students were missing out on ‘good things.’
The TwoCents team decided to introduce the platform to millennials in Uganda with him as the Ugandan Directorate.
TwoCents is an educational, technology and knowledge-sharing platform for African millenials that was founded by Tobi Igbinedion and Cyrus Majebi two years ago.
With its major focus on university students, the platform was made with an intention of giving innovators, creatives and thinkers across the African continent a platform where they can share their ideas and improve them through various means.
The platform hosts weekly Q&A sessions where experienced think tanks, professors and lecturers are able to engage with students to help them develop their brainstormed ideas.
“We talk about many things during our Q&A weekly sessions. Democracy, Human rights, Science and Technology and many more. Participants get to interact with the brightest minds across the African continent and in the diaspora. They get to ask their questions and they are answered immediately,” says Victor.
“The platform is able to connect like minded people. It is also easy to know about scholarships, market for startups, investors…there is a lot you can get by connecting with great minds across the continent,” he added.
When asked about how the platform will provide market for Ugandans, Victor was quick to say that, “the platform has been embraced by Nigerians and South Africans and this is a good thing for Ugandans since Nigerian market triples our Ugandan market while the South African market quadruples it.”
The platform which boasts of over 1000 subscribers has been growing exponentially over the two years even with the little funding that the founders could get.
After joining the platform, one is able to follow and to be followed back, you are also able to choose amongst the many topics on the platform that are called spaces ranging from Robotics to Democracy to Banking and Finance to Blockchain to Fashion Design and more.
The platform gives the Quora platform vibes yet it digs deeper and connects with the African understanding of the world.
