Rajiv Ruparelia, Managing Director of the Ruparelia Group and son of Ugandan business magnate Dr. Sudhir Ruparelia, has died following a motor accident in the early hours of Saturday morning. The incident occurred today, along the Munyonyo-Kajjansi expressway.
Rajiv, 35, was a prominent figure in Uganda’s business landscape, known for his dynamic leadership and innovative approach. Under his stewardship, the Ruparelia Group expanded its footprint across various sectors, including real estate, education, hospitality, and agriculture. He was instrumental in projects like the Kampala Kingdom Mall and the Speke Resort Munyonyo, and played a significant role in the development of Victoria University.
In addition to his business ventures, Rajiv was an avid motorsport enthusiast. He actively participated in Uganda’s national rally championships and was known for his passion and commitment to the sport.
In 2024, Rajiv was recognized as the only Ugandan in the Choiseul 100 Africa list, which honors the top 100 young African leaders under 40 who are shaping the continent’s future.
