National Broadcaster, UBC has issued a statement alerting students in universities and other institutions of learning about individuals and agencies promising to secure them internship opportunities and jobs at the mentioned media house.
According to a statement released by UBC, the fraudsters have been offering internship placements and extorting money from members of the public. Following this illegal arrangement, UBC has alerted the public that their internship placements are free of charge and follow formal recruitment processes.
“UBC informs all universities and other institutions of learning plus the general public that recruitment and internship placements at UBC are free of charge and follow formal recruitment processes through the Human Resource department and all the notifications are posted on the UBC official website www.ubc.go.ug .” Part of the statement reads.
“The public is hereby warned that UBC will not accept any liability for any loss or damage that may be suffered or incurred directly or indirectly by dealing with unauthorised individuals or recruitment agencies and such communication should not be treated as an offer or representation from Uganda Broadcasting Corporation.” The statement reads further.
Several Journalism students in Uganda yearn to work and do their internship at UBC but the process of securing these opportunities favors the lucky few. Due to this, some agencies and individuals have found a way of milking money from innocent students who badly want to chill with the big boys at UBC.
