Kampala will host some of the country’s sharpest young minds next week as the Uganda Communications Commission prepares for the Grande Finale of the UCC Debate Series 2025. The five day event will run from December 2 to 6 at Greenhill Academy in Kibuli.
The competition is the final stretch of an inter tertiary debate programme that has moved across the country for months. It is organised by UCC in partnership with Debate Afrika and targets emerging voices on issues that continue to shape Uganda’s fast growing digital space. This year’s agenda focuses on the digital economy, online safety, and child protection.

Dozens of students from universities and tertiary institutions are expected to square off in a series of high stakes contests. The format used is World Schools, which demands evidence based argument, quick thinking, and clear communication. Organisers say the structure helps students learn how to handle facts, challenge weak logic, and stand their ground in front of a panel.
The finale will feature competitive rounds, public speeches, and expert discussions on policy gaps and opportunities in the digital sector. It will close with an awards ceremony that recognises excellence in research, presentation, and teamwork.
UCC officials say the annual series is more than competition. It is one of the avenues the Commission uses to build a generation of informed, digitally literate young Ugandans who can participate meaningfully in national conversations.
As the finalists take their seats next week at Greenhill Academy, the stage will be set for a meeting of youthful intellect and institutional guidance. All eyes will be on which team leaves Kampala with the 2025 crown.
