The Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) is celebrating a major milestone after its Executive Director, Hon. Nyombi Thembo, was crowned Executive Director of the Year 2025 at the National Quality Awards (NQA).
The recognition, shared by UCC through its official channels, honours Hon. Nyombi’s leadership in steering the Commission toward improved regulatory efficiency, digital transformation, and consumer protection.
In a celebratory message posted on X, UCC wrote:
“Our very own @UCC_ED has just been named Executive Director of the Year 2025 at the National Quality Awards. Congrats to Hon. Nyombi Thembo; leading with purpose, winning with style, and now officially collecting awards on behalf of all of us.”
The accolade positions Nyombi among the country’s top institutional leaders, marking a year in which UCC has championed major initiatives in digital safety, telecom quality standards, online consumer awareness, and ICT sector growth.
Under his stewardship, UCC has rolled out high-impact programmes including campaigns on responsible digital behaviour, strengthened enforcement of service standards, and expanded collaboration with global ICT partners.
The National Quality Awards celebrate excellence in leadership, innovation, and institutional performance across various sectors, recognising individuals and organisations that demonstrate outstanding commitment to quality service delivery.
Hon. Nyombi, who has led the Commission through a period of rapid technological change, is expected to make a formal statement in the coming days.
UCC staff and sector players have since flooded social media with congratulatory messages, framing the win as a collective achievement for the country’s communications ecosystem.
