Uganda Christian University (UCU) community is ecstatic about its three outstanding law students representing the continent in Geneva.
The 3 gurus will participate in the International Rounds of the World Trade Organization (WTO) Moot Court Competition.
“The Team from UCU is representing Africa in the International Rounds of the World Trade Organization Moot Court Competition in Geneva, Switzerland. Make us proud,” UCU Law Society Tweeted.
The Competition is a simulated hearing of a World Trade Organization dispute settlement panel. Teams of interested students from all over the world prepared written submissions for the complainant and the respondent on a fictitious case.
The purpose of the Competition is to teach students about WTO law and the WTO dispute settlement system as well as to assist them in developing practical litigation skills.
Just like UCU, teams have travelled to Regional Rounds where they competed against each other before a WTO dispute settlement moot court panel composed of WTO and trade law experts. The best teams from each regional round will now participate in the Final Oral Round of the Competition held in Geneva.
The case authors have been invited to the WTO in Geneva to judge the Final Oral Round of the Competition, along with distinguished WTO scholars and practitioners in this year’s edition.
We wish the UCU team the best of luck.
