On Saturday, Emmanuel Okunny was elected the 11th guild president of Uganda Christian University [UCU] Mbale campus on an independent ticket.
Emmanuel emerged victor having dominated three quarters of the polls beating rival Racheal Nabulo.
The students cast their votes on Friday where Emmanuel had 650 votes while Racheal had 372 votes of the 1037 votes after being counted late in the evening.
Emmanuel Okunny becomes the first independent guild president elect since the multi party politics was introduced around the university in 2005.
He is to replace NRM’s Kenneth Wenani the current guild president.
Emmanuel promised to act as a bridge between the versity’s administration and the students and address all their issues and grievances.
