Uganda Christian University (UCU) students successfully went to polls on November 15, 2023.
Ms. Birunji Agira was victorious as the Guild President of he Mukono based institution.
As per the electoral roadmap, she would formally take her seat as the students’ leader upon swearing in on November 21, 2023.
The ceremony was graced by the Vice Chancellor and other top administrators who witnessed the smooth hand over.
“Join us in congratulating Ms. Birunji Agira, the newly sworn-in 26th Guild President of Uganda Christian University for the term 2023-2024! Your leadership journey begins, and we can’t wait to see the positive impact you’ll make,” UCU tweeted.
In her own words, Ms Birungi pledged to preserve, protect and defend the Students Guild Constitution.
“Today 21st Nov 2023, I took the Oath of Allegiance and swore in as the newly elected 26th Guild President of @UCUniversity , I’ll preserve, protect and defend the Students Guild Constitution. It’s always been a God Calling to serve the students body,” she noted.
It should be remembered that Birungi garnered a total vote count of 1156(53.05%) against her competitor, Emmanuel Gerald Abura’s 1023 votes(46.95%).
Birungi will succeed Ddumba Timothy to become UCU’s 26th Guild President.
