The electoral commission of the guild at Uganda Christian University (UCU) Mukono has released a timeline that will be used to conduct elections at the university for the guild year 2018/2019.
The dates were approved by the guild parliament in a sitting specifically to debate the guild electoral program for the annual general elections for the Advent semester.
Key important dates include the 3rd October which is the day when the aspiring leaders will be required to pick up nomination forms to express their interests for the various available positions and the deadline will be the 12th October.
On the 15th October, the aspirants will be vetted by the guild electoral commission, the faculty vetting of the guild presidential aspirants will be done on the 17th October and the announcement of the candidates that go through the vetting will be done on the 18th October before voting takes place on the 2nd November.
There will be a debate for the students aspiring for the position of Guild President that is hoped to be televised on the 19th October and another debate at the university Nkoyoyo Hall on the 30th October.
The students are required to pay a fee of UGX, 40,000 for Members of Parliament (MPs) and UGX, 80,000 for the presidents.
Some of the available positions for election include; Guild President, MPs of the different faculties and departments, MPs for the residences, non resident and resident, representing both the female and the male students and also an MP representing the disabled community.
