The Electoral Commission has been ordered to pause their activities over allegations of gross mismanagement of office and misappropriation of funds. The order was engineered by UCU Guild President, Timothy Kadaga in a letter dated 10 November, 2020.
The commission is led by Boss John Bruce along with other members who govern the electoral body.
“I hereby revoke the appointment of the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission Boss John Bruce and suspend all other members of the commission and their activities till further notice,” Kadaga wrote.
In an interview with Timothy Kadaga, he emphasized that there are some imbalances in regard to the Electoral Commission financial activities. “We are leaving office but some people cannot account for what they spent. They have spent more than you can imagine.” he said.
He highlights that an account of the funds needs to be clearly aired out. “We need to clean up the house as we leave office. We cannot give the new leadership offices that have not been accounted for. This is not for only the Electoral Commission but all offices must be tackled.” he said.
He highlights that the matter will also be looked into by the UCU Parliment.
